Best Undergraduate Psychology Programs
According to the Princeton Review's annual survey of colleges and universities, the best psychology schools in the country include fourteen public, or state sponsored schools. Here's their top ten:
- Stanford University
- Yale University
- University of Pennsylvania
- University of Michigan
- University of Minnesota
- University of California/Berkeley
- Harvard University
- University of Illinois
- University of Chicago
- Columbia University
The other state universities include Indiana, UCLA, UC/San Diego, Wisconsin, Washington, Oregon, Texas, North Carolina, and Penn State.
Of these, Penn State probably has the best online education component, offering sixty online degrees and certificates. They have two online psychology degree programs, one oriented to business careers such as human resources and marketing and the other to behavioral science, social services, or as a stepping stone to a masters degree in psychology.
The University of North Carolina offers an online bachelor in psychology degree through its Fayetteville State University site. At this stage, most large public universities are offering limited online degrees but a substantial number of online courses. Penn State is an exception.
Studies for clinical psychology generally begin in earnest at the masters' level. However the wealth of career choices available to a psychology major is hinted at by the two Penn State online options. Psychology majors can prepare for a career in social work, in addiction counseling or in criminal justice working as a counselor or probation officer. A degree from a top school will open still more doors.
