Oswego County Celebrates Medical Assisting Graduates
Congratulations, recent graduates! It's getting to be that time again, and this week New York's Oswego County BOCES Adult Education Department hosted a graduation ceremony to honor its newest recipients of dental assisting and medical assisting degrees. As proud families and friends looked on, eleven new graduates were awarded diplomas and commemorative pins to mark the occasion.
Oswego County BOCES Adult Education and Workforce Development Director Donna Donabella applauded the graduates for their perseverance and dedication to continuing their education and then turned the microphone over to Medical Assisting class speaker Debra King and guest speaker Gail Torkildson. Torkildson, a fall 2008 graduate of the Medical Assisting program commended the students for choosing her same career path and said, "As a medical assistant, you will face new challenges everyday and leave work knowing that you've made a difference in a patient's life."
Pledges to the medical community were spoken, special achievement awards were given to the valedictorian and salutatorian of each department, and the graduation ceremony ended with Director Donabella welcoming all of the graduates into the National Technical Honor Society.
