Biomedical research is an active field in pharmaceuticals and in agriculture. Workers in these fields generally have a biology or life sciences degree. Chemical engineers, electronics engineers and mechanical engineers may be involved in product development that requires substantial research. Computer chip design is a research example; digital product design puts the chips to use. A degree in environmental management or environmental resource management covers all of the earth sciences. These careers are often with the government.
