Cosmetology Associate's Degrees

Many people think that you just have to have a lot of practice under your belt to become a hair stylists or spa specialist, but it actually does take a bit of training before you can consider yourself a professional. People who are able to earn an Associate’s degree in Cosmetology are able to work in a variety of different professional positions in the beauty and wellness industry. An Associate’s degree will enable you to be qualified enough to color hair, apply permanent waves, chemically straighten hair, apply formal and glamour makeup, give facials, perform pedicures and manicures, and more. There are several vocational schools, like American Career College and Empire Beauty Schools that offer this level of cosmetology degree.

If you would like to be able to work in a wide variety of spas and salons, or are interested in owning your own hair salon, tanning salon, manicure shop, or other beauty related business, an Associate’s degree will give you the basic knowledge that you need to be successful. Research education requirements for specific cosmetology careers are available at our cosmetology career center page.

Many people don’t realize how much more they will be able to demand as a cosmetologist if they just take a few years to invest in their education first. On average, those with Associate’s degrees earn over 40% more than a person without one.
