Penn State Criminal Justice System Awarded First ACJS Certification for an Online School
Congratulations, Penn State! This month their World Campus online criminal justice program was officially awarded certification through the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. According to Dr. Barbara Sims, professor of criminal justice and chair of the department at Penn State Harrisburg, the certification comes as a major source of validation, helping to boost the image of online programs as an equally viable option for students interested in earning criminal justice degrees.
“The ACJS Executive Board, along with the Academic Review Committee, worked diligently to ensure that criminal justice programs are held to as high a standard as are programs in other disciplines,” said Sims. “Achieving the certification means that faculty, students and staff can be assured that they are teaching, learning, and working within an environment that is committed to high quality programming.
Penn State’s World Campus criminal justice program is the first online program in the United States to receive the honor of ACJS certification. For more information about criminal justice schools, check out the selection of top online universities offered at Get Degrees.
