University of Phoenix Proves Itself Head of the Class
If you want to be one of the top business schools in the world, it helps to show that you know a thing or two about business. That’s one thing University of Phoenix doesn’t have to worry about — the school, in conjunction with its parent company The Apollo Group, has just announced its first billion-dollar quarter.
With unemployment levels ready to jump over double-digit thresholds, more and more Americans are looking for ways to boost their résumé’s appeal. One way of doing it is heading back to school.
While academia debates the merit of online, for-profit schools, the student market is not. Folks too busy or unqualified for traditional brick-and-mortar campuses are flocking to the University of Phoenix and its competitors for a chance at a diploma.
True, thousands of Americans are leaping at the chance to further their education these days, but what has University of Phoenix done to set itself apart and ahead of its peers? For one thing, it offers highly desirable majors from nursing degrees to teaching credential programs. Accreditation also comes to mind — as the article notes, proper accreditation is one of the most important factors in a school no matter what degree you are trying to obtain.
While few will argue Apollo boasts the best programs on the market, it is impossible not to admit the company has the sector cornered. With the biggest name in online education, the University of Phoenix will be an industry power player as long as online education remains popular and, most importantly, accredited.
Will University of Phoenix manage to top its own success in the next quarter? That remains to be seen, but as going back to school — especially obtaining online degrees — continues to rise in popularity, it stands to reason that UOP online degrees won’t be fading into the background any time soon.
