Scholarships for Automotive Industry Students

To ensure interest in the automotive industry, even when car manufacturers are seeing a decrease in sales, the National Association of Black Automotive Suppliers announced that it will continue to donate to scholarship funds that serve the Detroit communities.

The National Association of Black Automotive Suppliers (NABAS) Scholarship Fund will donate more than $100,000 in college scholarships to outstanding Metro-Detroit African American high school seniors that plan to pursue careers in the automotive industry at its 21st Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon.

The NABAS Scholarship Fund has awarded over $900,000 in Scholarships to over 88 students since 2000. Last year’s 20th Annual Scholarship Dinner raised $147,000 and awarded 4 full and 6 annual scholarships.

NABAS member companies have annual sales of $3 billion, employ 25,000 people and have global operations. The association works to promote long-term, mutually beneficial relationships between black automotive suppliers and the automotive industry.

Even though auto sales are slow, there is always a demand for automotive technicians and mechanics in both the private and public sectors.  Earning an associates degree in automotive technology is a great way to ensure a secure future. Automotive Technology schools can teach you the skills that are needed to succeed in the automotive industry.
