The academic core for the training to be a professional cosmetologist includes learning the professional skills associated with hair and nail care. Included in the critical areas of study at the Empire Beauty Schools are the analytical processes and application skills for optimizing make-up use.
Empire teaches its aspiring cosmeticians how to select foundation makeup based on skin tone and quality, and how to apply it. The tricks to applying cover-up makeup and powder makeup are taught in a classroom setting and then in hands-on, training applications. The techniques for using make-up brushes and some of the other commercial applicators are reviewed in detail.
Empire students learn the art of eye make-up use, both for eyeliner and eye shadow purposes and for concealing bags beneath the eyes. Empire Beauty School educators also review the qualities that separate makeup choices and teach their students how to be knowledgeable in the retail sales role that every cosmetician plays in a good working salon.
