About Grand Canyon University Teaching & Education Degree Programs:
The GCU College of Education offers three Bachelor's of Education degrees with curricula that meets the standards for teacher certification in Arizona and for the Interstate New Teacher Support and Assessment Consortium. These three degrees have areas of concentration that include Elementary Education, Elementary Education & Special Education, and Secondary Education. Options include emphasis in English, Science or Math for the Elementary Education degrees. Areas of concentration for the Secondary Teaching degree include Math, English, Social Studies and Business Education. The final semester of each program includes a full time, sixteen week student teaching requirement.
Many states still require Master's Degrees of their public school teachers. Grand Canyon University has Master's Degree programs that meet teacher certification requirements for each of the Bachelor's programs listed above. In addition, the school offers Master's Degrees in Curriculum & Instruction for two areas of emphasis: Reading and Technology. There are also Master's in Education degree programs for Education Administration and for English as a Second Language (ESL).
There are two additional programs for the education oriented: those include the Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership and the Master of Arts in Teaching. Both degrees are designed for people who are interested in administrative educational roles.
