ITT Technical Institute Drafting Degree
About ITT Technical Institute Drafting Degree Programs:
Both the drafting and design professions were revolutionized with computer aided design (CAD) software and the computers with sufficient power to use the new platforms. Three dimensional imaging through the use of computers has both made production in the drafting and design fields easier, and made the functions of the professions more complex.
The ITT degrees in drafting and design focus on the technology used in these fields today. The two functions have merged to some degree, as drafting professionals are no longer confined to the two-dimensional surface of a blueprint. Design engineers often work with CAD design software, producing draft documents in the process. There is still a support role for draftsmen in the business; in fact, drafting professionals have become more knowledgeable about design components that make a product or structure feasible.
The ITT classroom option for the School of Drafting and Design provides a hands-on laboratory where students can put the theory of these professions into practice and develop practiced skills with the software used in the workplace. Drafting and design work, like so many other professions, comes down to a thorough knowledge of the tools. Because of its technology orientation, ITT is the perfect school to gain proficiency with the software, hardware, theories and practices of drafting and design today.
