About University of Phoenix Early Childhood Education Programs:
The University of Phoenix provides two masters' programs for people who want a profession in early childhood education. One is a masters' in education with early childhood specialization; the other is a masters in education with specialization in elementary education and early childhood education.
For decades the educational threshold for a teacher in elementary or secondary education has been a masters' degree. Those requirements softened somewhat when the number of teachers needed in U.S. schools simply weren't available, but for the most part schools are still looking for a masters' degree from teaching applicants.
While early childhood education may seem on the surface to be a less strenuous teaching option when compared to the elementary and secondary schools, it is in the child's initial encounter with the educational system that he or she learns how to learn in a classroom setting and where a child's learning capacity is evaluated.
The University of Phoenix also has a certificate program for continuing teacher education, which many school systems require. Teachers that need certain classes to switch into early childhood education can do so through the University of Phoenix
