Minnesota is full of educational opportunities for people who wish to earn a degree in art and design. You can always choose electives to take that are random and not pertinent to your major, but it may be best to focus on ones that could either develop into a minor or at least aid in the major you choose. Depending on what focus of art and design you go with, you may be required to take studio courses or historical courses to obtain a degree. Some colleges now require two semesters of a foreign language before one can graduate. Almost all universities will ask that students fulfill core curriculum requirements, like math and English.

Earnings for the sector tend to fluctuate because of the vast field that the industry covers. Art Directors are said to make $80,000 a year, but a sought after artist may make that from one painting. There are so many variables involved that it is hard to say a median earning level for the field of art and design.
