Cosmetology Schools in Missouri
Guide to Missouri Cosmetology Programs
Missouri has a nice sprinkling of cosmetology academies available throughout the state. Vatterott College and the Regency Beauty Institute may be the only schools available, but they have a ton of locations that you can go to. There should be some form of education available in your area. If the commute is too far though, you can always look into getting a degree online. That can be done through the Minnesota School of Business, Lincoln College of Technology or Globe University. With the online option, it does not matter where you are or when you have the time to learn. Everything is done at your pace and comes at your convenience.
The courses that you take as a cosmetologist will be based on what you want to study exactly. Most programs last less than a year, and some are only nine months in length. For something slightly more upscale, you may also see two year programs. Those will let you get an associate’s degree at the end of training. Once you have received a license to work in the state, you should be able to find a job. At that job, you will receive additional training that will help you understand that place of employment a bit more.
Missouri Cosmetology Job Outlook and Salary
There is a great outlook for jobs in the field of cosmetology. Finding employment should come with little difficulty because there are so many new businesses emerging all the time. On top of that, the population is expanding, so more people have demands that fit this industry. Also to be considered is the obsession that the country has with outward appearance. The better you look, the better off you’ll be – or so goes the theory. This all works in your favor, allowing you a better chance of getting a job.
The amount of money that you can earn as a cosmetologist is not predetermined like some other jobs. You might see anywhere from $8 an hour to $14 an hour in the first few years of employment. After you get a good client base going and establish a reputation, those numbers will increase. Some upscale hair salons will pay big money because they charge big money to their clients. Said clients can also afford to tip well, so you end up a winner all around. Try to get a job in one of those higher end locations if it is at all possible. You may have to wade through immense competition, but that will make victory even sweeter.
