About Teaching Degrees
It is not just students who need education, if you think about it somebody has to teach the teachers. We can all remember the really good teachers at school. You too could enjoy this sort of satisfaction if you decide to become a teacher. Teacher training schools are designed to ensure that you can give your students the best start in life. Maybe you are interested in special needs such as deaf or blind children or those with learning difficulties. It might be that you would enjoy teaching adults; maybe those less fortunate than yourself who managed to get through school without learning to read or write. Then of course if you want to go the whole way there are the giddy heights of academia. Teacher training school can help you get the right training to make a difference to somebody else's life.
What Do Teacher Training Schools Teach?
While you might be interested in specializing at a later date, you will need to learn the basics first. Typical subjects might include curriculum and lesson design, learning techniques, and presentation skills. All teachers must be licensed to teach in all public schools in all states. (This is not a requirement for private schools.) You will be licensed to teach a particular age range such as preschool, middle or secondary school. For older children, you will also need to show that you have a good grasp of a particular subject such as science, music or art for example. All states require all general education teachers to have a minimum of a bachelors degree. Some states also require a masters degree in education.
