Colorado Tech Announces Six New Business Grad Degrees
Colorado Technical University (TCU) is keeping pace with the rapid changes in marketing trends and business perspectives. They have announced six new degree programs, all offered in a blended format, for working professionals who want to acquire some cutting edge skills that are suddenly very desirable for those in the midst of business careers.
There are two new management degrees - both doctorates - one in emerging media and the other in environmental and social sustainability. Emerging media is something of a post-multimedia concept: "The Nielsen Company recently reported Americans spend 17 percent of their Internet time using social networking sites -- nearly triple the time spent a year ago.
"Other research shows companies are focusing more resources on emerging media to reach their customers. This doctoral program teaches students how to strategically use today's most popular Web technologies and social media to support organizational goals. Students develop management experience in this area by blending virtual worlds with networking communities such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn."
CTU is also offering two new computer science degrees that are also doctorates. One is in digital systems security and the other is in emerging media, presumably the technical side as opposed to the marketing perspective. There is also master's degree in systems engineering that is new, along with a master's in enterprise information systems. This last offering sounds like an interesting marriage of technology and operations management: "This degree program equips students with skills needed for coordinating, planning and implementing technical solutions to address organizational issues."
These degree programs will be principally online education offerings; however doctoral students are required to attend a four-and-a-half-day symposium at the CTU Colorado Springs campus twice each year. The course format will have the requisite flexibility for busy, employed professionals who have several lives to balance.
