Maine State Credit Union Offers Scholarships
Though scholarship applications are typically due in February or March, students in the state of Maine have some more time. There is an annual scholarship program that is available to Maine State Credit Union members, worth $1000.
Maine State Credit Union - a state-chartered credit union serving Kennebec and Somerset Counties and employees of the state of Maine - today announced it will awarded $1,000 scholarships to twenty Maine high school students who will be attending a post-secondary educational institution next year.
To receive the scholarships applications should be submitted by Friday, April 24. Please attach an essay, which may be any college admissions essay or an essay outlining what education means to your financial future. Applications will be carefully reviewed by the Maine State Credit Union Scholarship Committee who will select the twenty winners. Last year, ten scholarships were awarded. The quality and quantity of applications received last year lead Maine State Credit Union to double the number of recipients for this year's scholarships.
The director of this scholarship program has seen a great amount of interest in the program, and in 2008, Maine State Credit Union granted ten $1000 scholarships to excellent candidates. Due to the high number of qualified applicants, this year they are offering twenty $1000 scholarships.
