Nevada High School Cheaters Can Forget Scholarship
Students in the state of Nevada need top be careful of behaviors in high school that may go down on their "permanent record". The state is trying to pass a bill that would make high school cheaters have serious future consequences. Millennium Scholarship hopefuls who have cheated three or more times in high school would be ineligible for the scholarship program.
Students caught cheating in Nevada high schools would lose the right to the state's Millennium Scholarships under a proposal introduced in the Assembly.
The state already has a code of honor for pupils in public schools. It also provides rules for receiving the Millennium Scholarships.
Under AB212, students who violate the code of honor by cheating on three or more occasions in high school would no longer eligible for the scholarship even if their grades are high enough.
I think this is a great way for students to stay on the straight and narrow. Knowing in advance that they may be ineligible for scholarship opportunities might just help them to better apply themselves in school. This bill was sent to the committee for education to be reviewed.
