By far the worst school I've ever been to. Extremely overpriced and unorganized. I feel like I'm back in the second grade, but even my second grade teachers were better qualified to teach. Outdated equipment also. I have no idea where all of my money is going.

I just recently joined Apollo college about two months ago. It is a little hectic and I'm not too sure they are teaching the proper materials necessary to pass the different coding certification exams. I don't let this bother me though...As long as you know what materials are involved in the certification process and study up on it before taking the test, you'll be alright. It's just like anything else in life, you gotta look out for yourself and not depend on someone else to do it for you. Granted I did drop about 13 grand on Apollo, they are still teaching me some good fundamentals that are necessary as a Biller/Coder. Just be aware that there may be other material outside of their curriculum you should study for. Do your research on certification. Overall I like Apollo, and have a pretty good feeling about it.

I went to Apollo College one semester for the "Nursing Program". The A&P teacher was very
abusive and not at all knowlegable about the subject. After transferring out, it turns out that
NO other college or university will take their credits, I was told that they weren't even accredited! What a waste of money!!! -

I went to the Apollo College in Albuquerque, New Mexico for Medical Billing and Coding. The course is 11 months for a diploma course. They say they are preparing you to take the NHA certification for coders but, this certification is not recognized by any hospital or doctors office. The 2 certs. that are are the AHIMA and AAPC but, Apollo does not prepare you for these nor is the school accredited by AHIMA. The course I took also does not have an externship, which all the other courses do. The books are current at the time you start but, since they run the classes in a wheel, there are others starting at different classes then you did so whatever class you are in at the present time of their starting it may be your 5th class and their first. They get the newer issues of the books and you have the older version. This causes a conflict when it is time to take a test, which in this class was every 2 days on 2-3 chapters out of maybe 2 different books at one time. There is too much information to go over in such a short time. You don't have enough time to absorb it before you are on to the next subject. Most of this work is to be done on a computer and very little of it was taught using a computer. I finished in October of 2008 and finally received my diploma about 3 months ago. They do not prepare you very well for going out and getting a job as either a biller or coder and most of the job fairs they have are geared towards nursing, message and medical assistant. Most coder jobs require you to be certified with at least 2-5 years experience and there are no intern positions except for one around here but, you have to have graduated the top of the class. Biller jobs want at least 2 years experience unless you get lucky and find one that will train you, like I did. I don't know about the other courses and other campuses but, I would say that if you want to take up Medical billing and Coding in Albuquerque , go to another school. You will probably learn alot more and be more prepared for the job market when you get finished.

I went to see what Apollo was all about. I'm interested in the Medical Assisting program. Everything seemed great but I felt like I was buying a car! It was serious high pressure "sign here let's get you started today!" sort of feeling.... everything felt so scripted, all for the "sale" of it all.... disappointing! Just from that I don't feel like this school is something I can get something out of and actually have it taken seriously. (Portland campus)

Have to agree apollo is a joke and a waste of money. Spend your hard earned money at the local community college. You will have a better chance of being hired somewhere if your diploma (if you actually receive one still waiting on mine and graduated about 4 months ago) does not say apollo on it. Will say spokane has one decent instructor and no it's not the female back office instructor. Again don't waste your money at apollo go to your local community college, I wish I would have.

I recieved my degree in medical laboratory technology from apollo in Phoenix. Come to find out that most certification agencies, and universities don't recognize the degree because it is not NCCLS accredited. What a waste of my time and money. Besides that the classes were a mess and disorganized, none of the laboratory equipment actually worked as most were missing parts. I am ashamed to tell anybody that I graduated from this horrible school. Do not waste your time or money with these crooks.

I am currently a student at Apollo College and for the most part it is a joke. They pushed back my start date for a curriculum change and didn't prepare the teachers with the new class information, and gave them the old paperwork to use with the new books and schedules. The VA rep does not do their job and doesn't seem to care if they mess up your paperwork multiple times causing you to not get paid. The only two people in this program that I respect are my teacher and my admissions Rep.

Apollo Portland was fantastic school for me. I say don't listen to the negative remarks you get what you pay for and what you put in. I hated community college just doing pre-reqs are the time is boring. at Apollo you get hands on experience all the time. I loved my teachers they were great and the rest of the staff were helpful as well. I learned a lot and now I have a new career in the Medical filed making good money. I get to help people everyday I work in a plastic surgeons office I schedule patients and room them. I got this job from a referral from my externship site Apollo sent meto . I could not be happier, it is a lot of hard work for 9 months and it cost a bit but in the end I got what I wanted.

Apollo College is a mess!!! you don't ever know whats going to change from one day to the next.. They can't make up their minds on what they need to do especially for the nursing program. you would think they would have their SH** together after all the money you have to pay to go there but they don't. It seemed like a really good school to go to but now I'm not too sure. I mean yeah its not bad not having to wait for 2-3 years to get into the nursing program but you have to deal with a lot of changes that don't make sense and it really costs a lot of money. I just hope all this is worth it...

Apollo College isn't really one school, so much as a small chain of private schools with degrees and certificates available in the medical field. The college system as a whole seems to be getting mixed reviews on its courses and faculty across the board, but its massage therapy program is decent and recognized!
