The Culinary program lacks high quality teachers. If you have worked at the Bob in GR then you can teach at Baker. The Chefs act real tough and yell at you but teach you nothing because the lack of their education. The place is a joke.GRCC is a better school and the chef's know what they are doing not acting like they are gods gift to cooking like at Baker.....Alot cheaper to ...Just compare

I would stay as far away from Baker Port Huron for the Medical Billing Specialist Program also. I did not learn anything. We did not learn billing on computers as in a "real life" situation -- all were handwritten claims until your hands cramped. There was no emphasis placed to learn how to handle rejected claims-- this was only was mentioned in the very last class for about an hour (even though took two years to complete this). They have 4 quarter hours for classes that the teachers don't know how they are going to give enough work to keep you there that long. Teachers who would give long, drawn out speeches and bore you to death when you could be learning something worthwhile. Then most students are sent on work experience to the Port Huron Hospital where you learn nothing about medical billing and all they have you do is a lot of data entry and things the other people don't have time or don't want to do. It was an awful experience going to Baker for this. They also don't help much in finding a job -- it's basically up to you to look for one and employers don't even consider the education as work experience.

Baker College of Cadillac, Nursing program. Avoid at all costs!!! Stay as far away as humanly possible. Some of the faculty is well prepared and are genuinely knowledgeable, but many are thrown into instructing with no previous experience. Often at the last possible moment. My wife recieved a passing grade in Nursing Pharmacology, then was contacted a week later by the instructor and informed that she had miscalculated the grade and my wife would now fail the class. The final was cancelled due to weather with no opportunity to make it up. Participation points were 3 hour long take home assignments! For participation? Are you kidding me? How does that demonstrate participation in class, when it's a take home assignment? The majority of students complained from the beginning of the class about the 'professor's' disorganization and nothing was done. We just had a sit down with the Dean of the Nursing program and nothing came of it, but blank stares. This college is run as a business college, yet business ethics and good business practices are nearly unseen on this camppus. If you are considering this program at this location, do yourself a favor and check out Northwestern, Mid Michigan, CMU or Ferris.
