I made the mistake of attending Devry.

Like most of the students there, I honestly busted my ass off going every night with a job during the day. After about a year and 17k in tuition fees, I started to ask around. I asked friends of friends who either were well established in their field or had HR positions. Honestly they all told me, at first, to keep working and study hard. After some time and more questions from me, they finally expressed to me that they don't hire Devry graduates. One friend told me,"I didn't want to hurt your feelings, you looked like you were enjoying Devry." In which I did, but because I was so caught up in the "I'm finally going somewhere in life" "The school just does not have the requirements that they look for. It's not a up to standard school"

I then went to enroll in a local community college to transfer to a cal state. I asked them if my classes at devry tranfers over. Only two out of the six classes do. And those classes were from the Electronic Engineering course. So if I wasn't in that course, I would have not been able to use those two classes. The rest is just a waste. I don't know about other states, but if a community college does not take Devry's core courses then who will.

Please do your self a favor and re-think it if you are thinking about attending Devry.

Negative reviews that out way the positives should be the first indication and deciding factors in selecting Devry.

The saying I keep hearing is: "You get back what you put into it" or something along those lines. It is true, but for Devry, you're getting something that is not worth it in the real world. I'm sorry but I've been out there asking questions and Devry just doesn't cut it.

Horrible experience, not only do they omit the truth, but if something happens and you're forced to withdraw from a class, you are hit with outrageous administrative fees!! Besides the fact that no one ever calls you back, and they didn't accept any of my previous credits. Worst school ever!!

Financial department is horrible, they picked mine to review and said it would return within 5-7 working days and Im now on 10, was never told what i needed, just each week there was something else. Now Im on hold to enrolling for the next session classes. And why should they get a cut of our disbursments? That should be just part of entering into the school. Also nearly impossible to get a professor to return a call, one is great the other???

I think Devry is a very misleading school. If you are full-time working adult (meaning you work 40 hours during the day) good luck going to this school. What working adult can attend classes 5 days a week from 10am -12. No working adult I know. You can take classes online if you want to pay an additional $1500 for lab items. They have been nothing but misleading since we walked in the door to inquire. Of course they won't let you inquire until you pay $50 and fill out an application. This school is not for the average american who must work while they go to school. $500 a credt with an average class being 3-5 credits. You should get a great job after going to school here, you will need it to pay off the horrible school loans($40,000 +) you will have!!!

To be honest, I haven't had any trouble with the school so far. All the professors I had have been knowledgeable in their field. BUT you must be self motivated to do the work, ask question and be proactive towards your studies. I definitely give this school a thumbs up..Yes, the financial department still have some kinks to work out, but they all have been pleasant and nice to work with..

My son is having difficulties with the financial aid department. For the SECOND time his Sallie Mae loan was canceled (returned to lender), because of the incompetent worker(s) in that dept. He already missed a semester, because of this and he's about to be kicked out of this one, 'cause I sure can't pay for the semester out of pocket...... I'm seriously considering pulling him out of that school. How much of his credits will be accepted elsewhere??? I don't know.
