Miami Jacobs is a joke. From the first day you step on campus as a student you are treated like a second class citizen. The instructors are a joke. The Practical nursing program is barely a nursing program. We as a class had to complain to even get the instructors to talk to us with any respect. I would NEVER advise anyone to go to this school. Every single time I have to deal with an instructor or an administrator I dread it because you can guarantee they will treat you like you are bothering them or they will not be able to help and you will be back at square one. The career adovocates will say ANYTHING to get you to sign up. The worst part is once you sign on you are stuck. That is the ONLY reason I finished the program. Now I am just praying I pass the boards.

I am a current student at Miami-Jacobs Career College in Troy, Ohio. I started the Massage Therapy Program in May of 2009. I think that this college is one of the best...they are one of the top schools in Ohio for Massage Therapy. We have won the award for best Massage Program out of all the Ohio schools. Some say that the school isn't that great or that they're all about money but I've come to see that that is not the case. I would recommend this school to anyone...I have even had 2 of my own friends attend. The school offers tutoring for anyone that needs it and the professors are great at helping you learn and understand the material. I think that if you really want to go to a great school that's going to help you not only succeed in life and help you get an education but they will also even sometimes be able to get you a job...while you're still in school. Please contact the school if you're interested in this program...I love it and I know you will too.

I am a current student at Miami-Jacobs Career College in Columbus, Ohio. I started the Surgical Technologist Program in April of 2009. I have realized that this college is a joke! Their main concern is MONEY! They do not care about the proper teaching that you need to learn the required material. One of the instructors that I had was hired the night BEFORE class started. The most recent problem is with the financial aid, where is it? Only a small amount of students have received small portions of their overfunding checks, which are supposed to be distributed on the 15th of each month, well, we're still waiting for this month's checks. All you get is alot excuses and alot of attitude when you ask questions about different things concerning this school. Why is that if everything is legit? Makes you think, huh? To anyone reading this, please find another school to attend that really cares about giving you what you need to accomplish your goals because this is not the place. I am in the process of transferring to another college in this area because this is one of the biggest mistakes that I have made in my life. If you want a quality education, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

PLEASE think twice about attending this place. I have been here a year and would love to get out to another school but I can't. Credits won't transfer. In my cirriculum (sp) they keep getting rid of instructors. Down to 2 full time (including the dean) so there is very little actual instructing much less any kind of help for students needing some. No supplies are ordered no matter how much you need them. The textbooks are lousy. But the good instructors are great. Just wish there were enough to teach what we need to learn. Jeanne G. student

Hopefully at least one person will read this review before they waste a TON of money at Miami Jacobs. First of all, I am a graduate of Miami Jacobs with an AAS in their systems engineer program (information technology), I also have a Bachelor of Science from Wilberforce University, and am 9 hours away from completing my MBA. The salespeople that talk to prospective students are very very good at their jobs, they sell you on a career change and how great the school is, beware! You can get a more reputable degree with more flexibility at Sinclair Community College (or whatever community college you live near), ask the Miami Jacobs reps how transferable their credits are and then compare the cost of a $20k Miami Jacobs degree that no one will take versus a $5k Sinclair degree that you can take to Wright State, UD, etc. The choice seems pretty clear to me now, please learn from my mistake and save yourself some money! By the time most people figure this out it's too late to transfer out and they realize that no one else will take their credits so they just stay and finish the program. So the bottom line here is, you can get a better more transferable degree from a local accredited community college and save tons of money!!!!

RUN!!!!
I am a student at Miami Jacobs, 3rd quarter. I would consider another college if I were you. Tuition is in excess of $20,000. In my opinion the quality of instructors (poor), curriculum (poor) and clinicals (poor). I realized this shortly after I began, but I could not wait for an opening at another school. I had become unemployed and wanted to complete a LPN program before my unemployment ran out. None of my credits would transfer to another school so I'm stuck. I hope I get enough from the program to pass n-clex, I am pulling straight A's but I have a feeling I will need more than that. The school does use ATI which I feel will help me get through the N-clex. Here's an example of how one of my classes went:
Nutrition 1.75 hours 1 day a week:
Week 1 - instructor went over expectations for the quarter.
Week 2- no class the instructor forgot we had a class.
Week 3-Watched Super Size me.
Week 4- Watched the 2nd part of Super Size me. Instructor handed out a cross word puzzle.
Week 5- Instructor collected the cross word puzzle, skimmed over a few chapters, handed out another cross word puzzle.
Week 6- Changed instructors we sat like 3rd graders, each reading a paragraph form a chapter, collected crossword puzzle. Assigned a case study.
Week 7- Sat like 3rd graders, again reading a paragraph from a chapter. Instructor walked by to see if we did our homework, assigned another case study, told us what the final would cover.
Week 8- Took an ATI assement.
Week 9- Took final
This class cost me over a thousand dollars. I learned nothing new, but got an A. The clinicals have all been at Nursing Homes, I think we will get 1 day at an OB office, A Peds office, and I'm not sure what they will do for the MRDD rotation. As far as IV therapy we have to have 1 successful stick, and that can be in a dummy arm. But that combined with the class you take is enough to get your IV certification.
PLEASE THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE STARTING THEIR PROGRAM, THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!!! -

I attended the Surgical Technology program for two years and got nowwhere with it. I had to go on mmaternity leave just before my 13 wekks of internship and could not recieve my vaccinations. I was scheduled to return back for the next internship and the school said I could not return because i was out for them 13 weeks. The financial aide department wanted me to pay 2,000 in order to come back. They said it was because i just quit. I was on maternity leave. When I tried to transfer my two years of credits, I could not find a school to take them because it was not an accredited program untill after my expected graduation date. They could only take credits from the time the program became accredited. It was a waste of hard work and sleepless nights. Do not go unless you want to have alot of debt and nothing to show for it.
