The University of Cincinnati's online program is a real joke. I am currently working on a MA in Criminal Justice. The professors could care less about their students. The only person you EVER talk to is a facilitator who also could care less about you. They are responsible for providing you with all the class info rmation and they grade your papers. The professors do not take emails or calls and make it clear in the syllabus that everything should go through the facilitator. The classes are useless, the professors use them as an excuse to get students to read their articles and buy their textbooks without caring about actually teaching anything. For the cost it is a real ripoff. Their is no guidance of any kind, the program managers will not give you any information about graduation or when to take classes. They state that it is your responsibility to know whn to take classes and when to take your final demonstration project class in order to graduate. Which is really hard to know when nobody will tell you anything. They do not keep up with your records well, I was constantly nagged about providing a GRE score months after I sent it in, which I sent in with all of my admission papers. Of course nobody could tell me if they had received it since they won't talk to you about the program. Save your money and find a different school to go to if you want or need an online degree because this school only cares about the studets who are on campus.

I graduated with a BFA focus in photography in 2006. Rosenthal and Stevens are fantastic photo professors. But unfortunately the majority of your first and second year classes are taught by grad students. The head of the photo lab is difficult to deal with, as she extends you no trust at all when it comes to taking care of the equipment, and is a crazy stickler about having everything you need to enter the lab (id). Spending sometimes 8 hrs a day in the darkroom or with the photo printer, this kind of stress is unwelcome. Exhibit space in DAAP was also nonexistent for undergrads (except the graduation show).

This is a kind of school where you have to go in with a lot of self-determination, but if you have what it takes then it's a great place for an education. I haven't heard a whole lot about what it's like for undergraduates, but my experience was great and as far as career training goes the co-op program was invaluable!
