The top law schools in the country have maintained their standings for many years. They may move around a bit within the top twenty, but usually that has more to do with campus budget issues or events than with a change in academic expertise. One of the challenges in recent years for the top law schools has been to integrate global law into the curriculum just as business schools have had to do.

The top law school as ranked by US News and World Report are below. The US News survey also ranked the top ten schools for various areas of legal academics. We have included those where they apply to this list of the top ten law schools overall.

For the first time, US News also ranked the top ten law schools sending graduates to clerkships for federal judges - a highly coveted and prestigious option following law school graduation. The top ten schools whose graduates landed clerkships with a federal judge:
